Gun Violence

We face a gun violence epidemic in our country. There have already been more than 200 mass shootings in 2022. Nearly 60 percent of Americans know someone who has experienced gun violence. And today, guns are the leading cause of death for children in our country.

Time and time again, our elected leaders have shown a lack of willingness to work together to get things done. Americans shouldn’t have to worry about being shot at school, at the grocery store, in a house of worship, or anywhere else.

Trudy respects the Second Amendment, and believes that law-abiding Americans have the right to own guns for hunting, sport, and self-defense. At the same time, military-style weapons don’t belong on our streets or in our communities.

In the U.S. Senate Trudy will support common sense gun safety reforms like background checks, red flag laws, and preventing people who have been reported as dangerous to law enforcement by mental health providers from purchasing guns.
