Letter: Candidate’s class warfare ads reek of self-parody

High fives to the letter writer for “Schmitt didn’t struggle as much as his television ads claim” (Oct.19): These paeans to class warfare by GOP Senate candidate Eric Schmitt are beginning to reek of self-parody. “Workers of the World, Unite!” stances don’t resonate well coming from the right side of the aisle, where no corporate tax break is ever big enough, and concepts like collective bargaining and the minimum wage are considered socialist conspiracies.

In one ad, Schmitt likens Democrat Trudy Busch Valentine to a “limousine liberal” who doesn’t care about the travails of working families. How would he know? Perhaps if Schmitt had ever shown up to debate Valentine, he could have asked her about this instead of making idle, unfounded assumptions.
